Maggies Centre, Swansea
The Maggies Centre in Swansea is one of many cancer centres built on the grounds of NHS hospitals located all across the Nation. They provide free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer, familys and friends. The centres are built as a relaxing and comfortable environment for patients to seek professional support, meet others or just to have some piece and quiet.
The Maggies centres are designed by some of the most established and recognisable architects in the world. Their aim is to create very unique buildings with specific criteria maxmising the positive effects that the centres have on patients. Some of which are a welcoming entrance, spaces to pause and relax, kitchen area, office space, space to lie down and a garden.
Designed by architects Kisho Kurokawa and Garbers and James
